Updated2026-04-15 14:30 (23 minutes ago)Flood - The river is flooding. Obstacles can be treacherous or deadly. The river should be avoided at this stage for casual trips and definitely for the inexperienced. Trips should be attempted only with protective gear and equipment.Flood(none)2203
Discharge438 cfs (median: 1060 cfs)High - The river is high and potentially dangerous, especially for the young and / or inexperienced. Normal stream obstacles are sometimes difficult to navigate. Extended distances can be attempted, but canoe travel may not be advisable.High(none)1013
Height2.57 feetGood - Conditions are ideal for a canoe or kayak. Boats typically will drag on fewer than one-quarter of riffles, if at all, and portages are unnecessary or rare. Normal float lengths can be attempted without a problem.Good300757
TrendSteady (falling over 24 hours)Low - River is low but can still be floated. Some riffles are okay but most come with significant dragging and might need a portage. Float lengths should be reduced to accommodate low flow, dragging, and portages.Low(none)577
USGSExternal icon USGS Site (External icon Duck Duck Go Maps)Poor - River is too low to float comfortably. Most or all riffles will drag or must be portaged and some obstacles (such as slick shelf rock) cause undue problems. Avoid the river at this stage for casual paddling trips.Poor(none)257

We started downstream around 1130 hours. The stretch from Long Hollow to Greer Spring was slow but not low. We were able to get through each riffle without getting out although there was some dragging. Past Greer Spring, the water was swifter with less dragging. We originally planned to start at MO 19 but decided we wanted to see the confluence of the spring and the river. Because of that, our late start, and the long shuttle, we had more river miles to cover on the first day than we had planned. We were also in competition with other groups for the sparse camp sites. We finally found one around 1800 hours that was small but suited us fairly well.We started downstream around 1130 hours. The stretch from Long Hollow to Greer Spring was slow but not low. This was an excellent and casual float. The section above Greer Spring was a little low and we dragged or bumped through most of the riffles (a few had enough to carry us without bumping the bottom). After the spring, the river was swifter and high enough to carry us easily through the remainder of the trip. Nobody else was on the river above MO 19, and only a few people were encountered after that point. We started around 0930 hours and finished at 1640 hours. This was an excellent and casual float. Water was absolutely great and there were not many floaters. River was just high enough to enable a kayak/canoe to navigate almost every riffle without hitting rocks. The float took us about 5.5 hours with a few stops. Water is pretty chilly though if you are a swimmer. The "good" rating goes down to 300 cfs. It may be a challenge to pick your way through the riffles with only 300 cfs. Expect to hit a some rocks and maybe get hung up in a few. Halls Bay Chute makes for a fun little drop a couple of miles from the end. Rained pretty hard just as we were taking out. Highly recommend this stretch of river.Water was absolutely great and there were not many floaters. On the water about 0945 and made it to Greer Crossing about 1730. Tough fishing conditions were in store for us with post-frontal conditions (clear sky, morning temps in the 30s, high barometric pressure, and variable winds.) The water level was lower than normal (USGS daily CFS mean) for this time of year according to the USGS gauge, which is downstream from where Greer Spring dumps into the river. In general, floating above Greer Crossing is tough due to no USGS gauge being present on this stretch of the river, which increases the local awareness needed to float the river at the right time and right water level. Because of our lack of knowledge about the Eleven Point as this was my first time floating this section, we had to regularly portage due to low water levels and numerous riffles with strainers in the channel that we didn’t feel like challenging since the high for the day was only 57 degrees. Nevertheless, we scrapped out a pretty decent day of smallmouth and Ozark bass fishing by our standards. I managed to catch my new PB smallie at 18" and caught at least a half dozen or more above 14" in totality. All in all, we caught about 40 smallmouth on the day. Many if not all the fish caught had pretty good bellies on them, so the pre-spawn is beginning to crank up as the photo period continues to lengthen day by day in the spring. This stretch of the Eleven Point is beautiful and would be an absolute blast with a little more water (ideally 600+ CFS on the gauge at Bardley) to speed up some of the slower holes and deepen the riffles by a few inches, making one of the most “remote-feeling” streams of the Ozarks a true gem to experience. On the water about 0945 and made it to Greer Crossing about 1730.
