| Condition | Good - Conditions are ideal for a canoe or kayak. Boats typically will drag on fewer than one-quarter of riffles, if at all, and portages are unnecessary or rare. Normal float lengths can be attempted without a problem. |
Notes | This was a last-minute trip to catch the last of the water from the storms earlier in the week. The water level was perfect, with almost no dragging and just one portage through a downed tree. The water clarity was as good as we've seen and the current was swift in many places. Lunch was mango and avocado salsa, BLTs with Pike County homegrown tomatoes, and pasta salad. Chips and cookies were around for later snacks, too. Although many vehicles were parked at the put-in and takeout but not many were actually on the river that we saw. We started at 1120 hours and stopped at 1740 hours with several stops, at least two close to an hour or more. |
