| Condition | Good - Conditions are ideal for a canoe or kayak. Boats typically will drag on fewer than one-quarter of riffles, if at all, and portages are unnecessary or rare. Normal float lengths can be attempted without a problem. |
 Notes | We stopped around 1200 hours at the gravel bar across from Cave Spring to setup camp and spend the day. We had an interesting experience all afternoon and watched several groups pass us by and visit the cave. I was surprised at the number of people who passed by on a week day. As our shade disappeared, Tom built an epic tarp shelter. In our clumsy attempts to construct the shelter, a passerby declared it the ugliest flag he had ever seen. In the evening, we took a trip over to the cave and spring for photographs. Another group hiked down the mountain to camp at the spring with their gear in tow. They were pretty rowdy at first but calmed down significantly before we went to bed. The shower was hot tonight. Dinner was Tom's sweet and sour chicken and rice, foil-steamed broccoli, sugar snap peas, and mushrooms, and jalapeno cornbread. Breakfast the next morning was avocado toast and zucchini bread. |
