ConditionGood - Conditions are ideal for a canoe or kayak. Boats typically will drag on fewer than one-quarter of riffles, if at all, and portages are unnecessary or rare. Normal float lengths can be attempted without a problem.
Notes icon NotesRiver level was just about perfect. James River Outfitters assisted us in kayak rental and shuttling of one of our kayaks. River was a bit crowded, especially for a weekday. If you want to avoid the crowds, consider going Monday through Thursday. We took our time, enjoyed the water, and made the float last about 4.5 hours. Great day on the river.
