| Condition | Good - Conditions are ideal for a canoe or kayak. Boats typically will drag on fewer than one-quarter of riffles, if at all, and portages are unnecessary or rare. Normal float lengths can be attempted without a problem. |
 Notes | The water level was excellent! Despite breaking my $135 carbon paddle IN HALF, this float was great (near 80 degree weather, with some very good fishing). Had to spend too much time babying my crudely repaired paddle, but even with that I managed to catch four nice small mouth bass. There are two tree snarl obstructions in this segment of the river. The first one located at these coordinates, 37.045881, -93.065229. It's fairly easily portaged around and with a chain saw could probably get a small pathway cleared through it. The second tree snarl (coordinates 37.042722, -93.072017) is MUCH larger and more difficult to portage around. It would take some significant time and effort to fully clear the river of this major obstruction. Photos of both snarls can be seen on Flickr. |
